Frequently Asked Questions About Money Coaching
Please Note: I am not a credit counselor or investment advisor. I do not advise people on investment products or vehicles for their money. Money coaching is a process that teaches proven money management skills and strategies, as well as addressing financial behaviors, patterns and beliefs. The focus is on helping you create sustainable financial change for the better.
How do we get started?
To get started schedule a complimentary consultation. I want to be sure we are a good fit for each other. You can tell me about yourself and ask me questions. I’ll have lots of questions for you too. If we decide to work together it will be online via Zoom.
How do I prepare for the first session? What do I need to bring?
Our kick-off session is 90 minutes to ensure we have enough time to get you off to a great start.
Before the first session I'll send you a Sacred Money Archetypes® assessment. I ask that you complete that and send me your scores at least two business days before our first session.
Then, at the first session, we’ll do an intake. I’ll ask you questions and we’ll talk about your money and your story, where you’ve been and where you want to go. We'll do a Sacred Money Archetypes® reading to get another perspective and deeper understanding of how you relate with money. Then we'll figure out exactly where to start. You do not need to bring anything to you first session. I will have lots of questions and things to cover, so we will likely not have time to go through anything you bring with you. Just show up and be yourself.
How often are coaching sessions?
Generally speaking, new clients work with me twice a month for about a year. Then they go to once a month. If possible I do extra sessions with brand new clients to get us off to a strong start. But the process is unique for everyone. And I maintain long term relationships with my clients. (Some of the length of time we work together also depends of if we are working on just personal finances, or if we're working on small business finances, too).
How long are the coaching sessions?
Sessions are 60 minutes and Kick-Off Sessions are 90 minutes.
I have a small business. Which should I work on first, my personal finances or my small business finances?
This is a question we will explore in our first session and decide together before our second session. In general, we will start with your personal finances, then progress to looking at your business finances. But we will decide together which is the best order for you.
What are your typical coaching hours?
My client hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 11am to 5pm Pacific Standard Time.
What is the investment?
Fee wise I am based on $150 per coaching hour. I offer a pay by session option so you do not need to worry about long term contracts, though an initial 3 month commitment is strongly recommended to create the best possible financial foundation. Package options with bonuses and incentives are available to support your commitment to transforming your finances while getting even greater value for your money.
Are there any other costs or fees associated with the coaching?
Other than the coaching itself, you will need a subscription to MoneyMinderOnline, which is a powerful and useful money management software and training tool we will use together. The cost is $9 a month, or $97 a year for the personal account, and the same for a solopreneur account. Generally, if you own a small business, you will just start with one subscription and then add the second. We will determine which is best for you to begin with during the kick-off session.
Do you take insurance?
No. Currently there are no insurance providers that cover private money coaching.
Are you able to make referrals?
Yes, I often make referrals to other professionals and resources. Sometimes it is to financial planners or therapists. I can also refer you to a different money coach to help you find the perfect fit for you.
